Uglies

     Uglies is a book where everyone is born "ugly" and when they turn sixteen, they undergo an operation to make themselves supermodel beautiful. This seems like a perfect world, right? As soon as you turn pretty, life is a nonstop party, you can do whatever you want, and the officials have the technology to make everything safe, from ice skating fifty feet above the air to jumping off a building. Yes, you're probably saying, it is the perfect world. That's exactly Tally Youngblood thinks, a fifteen year-old two months away from turning pretty. 

     Then Tally meets Shay, a girl who dosen't want to become pretty. Shay and Tally start to do rebelious things, tricking monitors, hoverboarding at night, and pretty soon they become the best of friends. then, as the day they turn pretty is a week away, Shay decides to run away, and Tally's world is turned upside-down with encounters with Specials, escaping the city, and finding out the horrible truth about a seemingly perfect world.

     Uglies is the first book in the Uglies trilogy, and I think anyone who reads it will love it and crave the next book in the series, Pretties. An excellent science fiction book, Scott Westerfeld has certantly outdone himself with Uglies, Pretties and Specials.

     Uglies is the first book in this series, followed by the second book pretties, then finally the third book in the series; Specials. I recomend all of them.
